Celebration of Pets and Blessing of the Animals

This will be our second annual celebration of pets and blessing of the animals festival. We plan to have a big pet adoption day with Rose Hope Animal Shelter and Animals for Life. We will have local pet vendors (Best Friends, Groomers, etc.) as well as a local Vet on site (for pet education) We had a lot of success with this event last year, but we want to make it even bigger this year and raise more money for the animals! We will have our Pet Costume and Pet Trick Contest as well as children activities. Most importantly, we want to give pet owners the opportunity to bring their pets on this special day to be blessed. We are a very pet friendly church.

Join Whippoorwill Morgan for the “Foals and Foliage” Open Barn. Whippoorwill Morgans, bred in Old Lyme CT, since 1945, invite you to come into their barn and visit, six and soon to be seven foals, with their mothers, who welcome visitors into their stalls for petting.
No admission charge, free refreshments, and some souvenirs for sale. The barn is wheelchair accessible. Plenty of free parking. Barn crew members will open stall doors, introduce the horses and answer questions about them and about horses in general, Morgans particular.
Whipporwill Farms requests that you do not bring dogs to the farm and also that you do not bring any sort of food or “goodies”, as they do not allow hand feeding.
For your own protection wear sensible shoes, no flip flops or sandals, please.

Directions: I-95 Exit 70, North on Rt. 1 for 1.5 miles to Whippoorwill Rd. Right on Whippoorwill 1.5 miles to the farm. Look for a large blue sign with small black horses, driveway is on the left. The way is marked with blue and white signs.

There will also be a collection for “Comfort Dolls from Our Community” a local charitable organization dedicated to helping children and young adults by distributing hand-made dolls to those individuals who have been involved in crisis situations.

Women Against MS (WAMS) was established in 2001 by a committee of dynamic women leaders. Since then, the WAMS event has grown exponentially each year. Riding for a Reason

Riding for a Reason, coordinated by Canton High School Senior Ryan Abraham is set to take place this October 19th with many sponsorships, participants, and activities. Profits will go directly to the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer prevention, access to screening and care, improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors and investment in research
The idea for Riding for a Reason came from Ryan who is a senior at Canton High School . Seniors are allowed to take part in a Senior Project Class where students pick a topic of personal interest to explorer and develop. Ryan felt that raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation would be a great topic with a lot of opportunity to develop, thus Riding for a Reason came about.
We are hoping to raise over $10,000 to give directly to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. We are also hoping to attract as many people as possible by offering 100, 50, and 30 mile bike tours as well as 10 and 5 K Run/Walk/Skate tours throughout that Farmington Valley Greenway and Farmington River Trails.
